TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Former NFL quarterback Doug Williams was promoted Tuesday to coordinator of pro scouting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also filled several spots on the staff of new coach Raheem Morris.
Williams, who played with the Bucs from 1978-82 and later won a Super Bowl with the Washington Redskins, had been a personnel executive assisting former general manager Bruce Allen since 2004.
In his new job, Williams will oversee scouting and recruiting of NFL players, as well as player tryouts.
The Bucs also announced the hiring of Joe Baker, Robert Nunn and Chris Keenan as assistant coaches.
Kurtis Shultz and Dwayne Stukes, holdovers from the staff of fired coach Jon Gruden, were promoted to new positions.
Baker will serve as defensive backs coach after spending the past nine seasons with the Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. Nunn was hired to be one of the team's two defensive line coaches, and Keenan was added as assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Shultz was promoted to head strength and conditioning coach and Stukes was hired as the assistant defensive backs coach.
