With all of the recent comings and goings in the NFC East, the news that the agent for Roy Williams asked the Dallas Cowboys to either cut or trade the safety by Tuesday barely caused a ripple in the league. The Cowboys ignored the deadline, but that doesn't mean a move involving the former Oklahoma standout isn't in the works. Taking advantage of a lull in the action, Express-News Cowboys beat writer Tom Orsborn breaks down the division's biggest moves early in Free Agency:
Cowboys
Lost
* Chris Canty, DE: They wanted to keep him, but his steep asking price negated that desire. Jason Hatcher and restricted free agent Stephen Bowen likely will battle it out to replace him. Other options include drafting an end or sliding Jay Ratliff from nose tackle to the outside.
Added
* Keith Brooking, LB: A nice addition to the locker room that gives Wade Phillips somebody to joke with. But will his new teammates respect the 33-year-old former Atlanta cornerstone after he's blown a coverage or two?
* Jon Kitna, QB: Jerry Jones got bashed for giving up a defensive starter for a player who was going to be released anyway, but who is going to complain when Kitna steps in for an injured Tony Romo and keeps the offense humming?
Eagles
Lost
* Correll Buckhalter, RB: He'll get a chance to start after signing a four-year deal with Denver. His departure, coupled with the fact oft-injured Brian Westbrook had minor surgery on his left knee recently, makes running back a top draft priority in Philadelphia.
* Brian Dawkins, S: In an unsentimental but smart move, the Eagles allowed him to sign with Denver. Why hang on to a player - even a beloved one - who is way on the wrong side of 30?
* Lito Sheppard, CB: Eagles sent Sheppard to the New York Jets for two draft picks, including a 2009 fifth-round choice, after Texas Tech-ex Joselio Hanson agreed to a five-year deal. Hanson replaced Sheppard as the nickel back last season.
Added
* Stacy Andrews, OT: The top-rated tackle in Free Agency got a six-year deal and is expected to replace veteran Jon Runyan, who will need four to six months to recover from surgery on his right knee.
Giants
Lost
* Derrick Ward, RB: Tampa Bay signed him Tuesday, ensuring beastly Brandon Jacobs will take more of a pounding. But the loss of Ward is negated somewhat by the fact Giants still have a change-of-pace runner in shifty Ahmad Bradshaw.
Added
* Rocky Bernard, DT: The Texas A&M alumnus has a high motor, especially on passing downs, and should thrive with the likes of Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora and Mathias Kiwanuka surrounding him.
* Chris Canty, DE: His addition gives the Giants' already deep defensive line rotation even more juice. Tom Coughlin plans to move him to the middle, where his 6-foot-7, 304-pound size will make for intriguing matchups.
REDSKINS
Lost
* Jason Taylor, DE: Company line is he was released because he wouldn't commit to offseason workouts. Truth is he struggled in Greg Blache's defense, never recovered from a leg injury and was simply a bust that cost them two draft picks.
Added
* Albert Haynesworth, DT: A disruptive force in Tennessee thanks in part to the talent surrounding him. And you've got to wonder if a guy already known for taking off plays will grow complacent with his pockets stuffed with a record $41 million in guaranteed dough.
