--At 248 pounds, QB Josh Freeman will be the fifth-heaviest quarterback in the NFL, according to the league's roster: The Lions' Daunte Culpepper (260), Raiders' JaMarcus Russell (260), Chiefs' Quinn Gray (254), and the Bucs' Byron Leftwich (250) weigh more.
--OT Xavier Fulton said the transition from defensive end to left tackle at Illinois was a difficult one.
"It was a little difficult at first getting to adjust," Fulton said. "Especially, the biggest thing I had trouble with and so does everybody else learning pass blocking. It's totally different from the way you're taught to play defense. Defense is easy by comparison -- chase the ball carrier. You can't be wrong if you chase the ball carrier. Go tackle someone. Whereas on offense, you make one mistake and the entire play is busted and it's lost yardage.
"It was difficult at first but I think I got the hang of it over the past two seasons and I feel pretty comfortable at it now."
--Southern Cal DE Kyle Moore said it was easy to get lost on a team that included highly-touted defenders like linebackers Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, Jr., and Rey Maualuga.
"That's what it was, that's why the production wasn't that high because everybody was trying to make plays," Moore said. "We have so many great players on our defense, you had to make your plays when you got them because if you didn't, there was somebody right behind you to make it."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I saw Jon Gruden on the telecast and I'm shaking my head. I think it's 100 days today since being named general manager. It has been busy but it's been exciting. I think Raheem and I really wanted to put our mark on the football team in the right way and put this team in a direction that we're very comfortable with and we're excited about and I think we've done that." -- Bucs GM Mark Dominik.
