--The Bucs may have done enough to address their receiver position in the off-season. They acquired a prospect and a project. Veteran Anthony Bryant, who did not play at all last year, has oodles of talent but has not played nice with coaches throughout his career. He still has some rust to knock off but will likely make the team. Rookie Dexter Jackson, a second-round pick from Appalachian State, was limited with a hamstring injury in training camp and didn't get much work at wide receiver. Time for Michael Clayton or Maurice Stovall to man up.
--Gaines Adams worked hard to get stronger after a second half surge as a rookie that allowed him to finish with six sacks. But he struggled in the preseason opener against Miami. He'll need to perfect a counter move to his outside speed rush in order to make a Mario Williams-like leap in year two.
--Jeff Faine is a big upgrade at center. At 26, Faine is the 'old man,' of the Bucs' offensive line. But he fits right in with the current group of high draft picks that includes Davin Joseph, Arron Sears and Jeremy Trueblood. Faine was part of a Saints offensive line that led the NFL in the fewest sacks allowed. He will challenge his young teammates to do the same. And another nasty guy in the huddle is a good thing. Faine played sparingly in the preseason opener at Miami.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "You still have to go out there, keep your head right and play football. They can say what they want to say and if it works out, it works out. If it doesn't, you try to go elsewhere." -- Bucs wide receiver Michael Clayton.
