Tampa Bay Buccaneers Notes, Quotes 2008-10-17
--FB Jameel Cook, a free agent cut by the Texans and signed Wednesday, says he remembers a lot about the Bucs offense from his days in Tampa Bay from 2001-05.

"I remember a lot," Cook said. "Obviously, it's been about three years since I've been gone, so things are going to change. But I'll pick up on it. A lot of guys are helping me. There is some stuff that is new, but for the most part, the basis of it, I still remember a lot of it."

--The Bucs play their first game on primetime Sunday since 2006. Defensive tackle Jovan Haye says his team is looking forward to it.

"No better time," Haye said. "Everyone gets to watch. We had a few good games this year and not everybody got to see what we could do. The spotlight is on the team this week and we will definitely be ready for Sunday."

--At halftime during Sunday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Bucs will honor Mike Alstott, arguably the most popular player in franchise history.

He was forced to retire last Jan. 24 because of a neck injury he suffered in training camp six months earlier.

At 34, Alstott knew he had to give up the thing he loved doing more than anything else in the world. But the Bucs helped by not making him quit cold turkey. Last season, Alstott was allowed to remain with the team, attending practice, meetings and road games as if were still part of the game plan.

"It really helped me cope with this year and adapt with the understanding that I'll never be able to play again because of the situation," Alstott said.

BY THE NUMBERS: 0 - The number of rushing touchdowns the Bucs have allowed this year, fewest in the league.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Whether you play on TV or HBO or UHF, it really doesn't matter. You've got to go out and play." -- Bucs coach Jon Gruden on the Sunday night primetime game on NBC.
