I am proud to call myself a Tampa Native. My family goes back three generations in the Tampa Bay area. My great-grandfather, Giovanni Bonanno, left Sicily as a young man and moved to the United States. Like most immigrants in those days he entered through Ellis Island and moved to Tampa where he worked in the cigar industry. On my mothers side of the family, my grandparents lived and worked in West Tampa. My grandfather, Haldo Toledo, cut hair for 60 years in the Palmetto Beach area of Tampa. Because my roots run so deep, I never wanted to live anywhere else. After college, I played professional baseball and lived in many different cities across the country. During that time, no matter where home was, it could never replace the city I love, Tampa. It has a vitality and culture I found no place else. But most importantly I love the people here. When speaking to out-of-towners I often brag about the residents of Tampa while boasting of its other attributes such as beaches, food, business opportunities and incredible weather. Occasionally, I even brag about the Bucs. The Tampa area, besides being where I have been most of my life - now with my wife and son on board - will be where I spend the rest of my life. Serving the good people of Tampa is my passion. I intend to give them everything Ive got.
